Calvary Cahpel Agape

Calvary Chapel Agape is affiliated with the Calvary Chapel Association of churches with over 2000 churches world wide.  The Calvary Chapel movement began in the Hippie era as just a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ responding to the Gospel call of His love and grace. Pastor Chuck Smith began teaching the Word of God to crowds of hippies in a tent in Costa Mesa in the late 60‘s.  An amazing movement grew called the Jesus People Movement as many turned to Jesus Christ and their lives were being transformed by the Word of God.

We at Calvary Chapel Agape continue in the same pattern believing that the Gospel through the power of the Holy Spirit is as effective  today as it was then and as powerfully transforming today as it was in the days of the church in the Book of Acts where see the Holy Spirit poured out on all flesh on the day of Pentecost. The church was birthed by the power of God through His Spirit as people responded to the call of God to be saved and placed their trust and faith in Jesus Christ turning from sin, death judgment to eternal life in glory with Him.  That same power is available for us today in the power of Christ, not by the power of men or religion.

At CC Agape want to see God's power transforming our lives, working in us through His life saving Gospel by the Word of God.  We desire to see and experience His effective power being demonstrated in our lives as we live by faith in Him through all our life's trials and challenges.  We believe that we are saved by grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ. We believe salvation is a gift of God by grace we cannot earn but Jesus gave us freely at the cross dying for us.  We cannot earn salvation by works(.)  We believe that as we answer God's call to be saved through Jesus Christ, that we freely can choose to receive Jesus as our Lord and invite Him in.  We then repent of our sin and believe that the finished work that Jesus Christ did for us on the cross and His resurrection is what saves us. He chooses to save us and we choose to be saved. Unfortunately, not everyone makes that choice. They reject the free gift of salvation. Does that mean God did not choose them?  No, it means they did not choose Him. John 3:16 "God so loved the World that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life"  Salvation is available for everyone in the whole world.  1 John 2:22

Our desire at Calvary Chapel is to remain focused on God’s Word even though we live in troubled times, where many seem to be falling away from the Word,  run to the Word to seek His Truth to guide us.  Jesus said in John 4 God seeks such those to worship Him, who worship Him, in Spirit and in truth.  So we realize, we cannot perfect in the flesh, what God began in the Spirit. Continuing in the Spirit,  fully trusting, believing that God is able to direct our hearts.  Believing that He wants to continue in His work in us,  to conform us into the image of His Son Jesus, so we can live in this world as an effective witness, in the demonstration of His power.  Zechariah 4:6 declares:   “Not by power or by might but by My Spirit says the Lord of Hosts.”

We look forward to sharing an amazing venture of faith with you!
